Jasmin Turner and Lynne Overman, HDBR experimental scientific officers, took place in this years ‘bake your research’ event hosted by Newcastle University. A total of 6 fantastic entries were submitted, but it was Team HDBR who took the trophy home!

The bake named ‘HDBR – At the Heart of the Matter’ is a three-tiered chocolate cake, the three layers representing human, mouse and zebrafish. Although we have gained understanding of how we develop through animal models, very little is known about how these processes compare in the developing human. The HDBR aims to contribute towards this gap in knowledge, and facilitate validation studies in order to produce better, and more accurate models of disease.
