The findings from a patient research experience survey conducted at three HDBR collection centres: Newcastle RVI, Sunderland Royal Infirmary and Bpas Richmond, were presented by Dr Nita Solanky (HDBR-UCL Manager) at the Joint BSACP/RSM Conference on Thursday 7 October 2021. The data captured the attitudes of patients undergoing pregnancy terminations towards fetal tissue donation to the HDBR, and included responses from 256 women going back to 2020. The presentation was very well received and abortion care practitioners not currently working with the HDBR, from both within the NHS and the independent sector, have since approached the HDBR to explore the possibility of offering this opportunity to patients coming through their clinics. HDBR plans to publish the findings from the patient research survey in 2023.
