Aragorn Jones participated in the joint Newcastle University and Northumbria University TechNet event on the 18^th of October 2023. The event centred around better utilising technical expertise at both universities and increasing cooperation in research and beyond. Talks from heads of the Technician Commitment and Vice Chancellors begun the day, with many aims and goals being set out. The afternoon had many open discussions on topics such as technicians applying for grants, sustainability, outreach, and apprenticeships.

Take aways from the meeting included setting up special interest groups across the universities to increase collaboration, and creating a list of funding available to technicians.

Technet will meet again in 6 months and HDBR are looking forward to attend again and continue to foster collaborations in the region.
